By applying various techniques I translate my life experiences and visions into images, prints, dyes, gowns or objects. Creating unique pieces and limited editions.
We find beauty in the patterns of shadows. It is the play of light and darkness that is revishing. Were it not for shadows, there would be no beauty.

In Shibori, a traditional Japanese textile art, I have found a perfect medium in which to express my own particular quest and vision. This method of wrapping, folding, compressing and stitching cloth for a resist-dye perfectly reflects my preoccupation: it is at once complex and simple, intense and elegant. A reconciliation of opposites and the expression of underlying harmony.
What I particularly appreciate in the process of dyeing is its dual nature: after the meticulous preparation and planning stage of the piece, there is an element of surprise inherent in the final result. A subtle alchemy occurs in the making.
The cloth becomes a medium, a recording device for all the factors involved in the process. After completion, when the cloth is unfolded, the inscribed traces are revealed: a creative dialogue with the material and time itself – a moment of grace.
My artistic expression is intuitive and structured.
Whatever medium I choose to work with – photography, printing, painting – artistically, I strive to express my sense of harmony, composition and the intuitive capture of the inherent qualities I recognize within it.

My favorite material is silk. With its graceful appearance and light physicality, it is the perfect medium for the magical unfolding of the subtle figurative sensuality my patterns radiate.
